These high mountains have a mild climate with cool, moderate summers. Winters are usually fairly cold but not as severe as in the northern states. Cold spells with snow can be expected on occasion. Prevailing winds are from the northwest. The average January temperature is 36 degrees and the average July temperature is 69 degrees. The average length of freeze-free season ranges from about 165 days through the central part of the area to 120 days in the higher elevations. Temperature rarely goes above 90 degrees during the summer months. In the winter, 10 degrees to zero weather can be expected about once every year. Once every two or three years, temperatures in the range of -10 to -15 can be expected. Rainfall varies somewhat over the area. Application Procedure - Applicant signs written application for membership and pays $5 memberhip fee together with any consumer deposit that may be required by the Cooperative. Tenant/renter, residential shall pay a minimum $45 ($195 for account with electric heat). In lieu of deposit, an approved letter of good credit from the previous supplier of electricity showing prompt payment over the past year may be accepted.VOTER REGISTRATIONNew construction - Service charge for meters installed during working hours - $25; after working hours - $50. Any distance over 1000 feet requires a pay in advance to aid construction for the line extension beyond the first 1000 feet. Also required are right of way easements.
